He clenched his jaw, blue-green hues narrowing at the vampire, annoyance gradually turning into anger. Who the hell did this guy think he was? He had a set, Rex would give him that, but the wolf also thought he was just plain stupid. What did he hope to accomplish in this – other than get his ass kicked by the bodyguards his father would send once the scouts following his son reported back to him. Rex would stay them off, though, at least until he figured out just why this bloodsucker was being so hostile towards him, when they didn’t even know each other. But he wouldn’t let him target his pack either.

“Look, I get it, werewolves and vampires have this long ass and bloody history – we don’t like each other. But you need to realize that not all of my kind wants to continue with this pointless war. Just because our kind are enemies, doesn’t mean we have to fight. I don’t have anything against you personally and I don’t understand why you would have a problem with me – other than who we are, which can’t be helped, you know. It’s not our fault. So tell me, why are you here? Really, what reason do you have for coming here?”

“Oh you think this is just because we are meant to be old enemies?  Oh no, no little mutt. I Had no problems with your kind once I was turn but it was the actions of your kind that made me hate you. And I have traced your family back to the pack that took my world from me.” Axel explained to him. “I thought I had killed all of that pack but here you are as proof that I didnt. Now wouldnt it be funny for you father to know the feeling of loosing a child.”

He knew that there were scouts that had headed back to tell Rex’s father what was happening and he knew there would be back up sooner rather than later. “But it is your fault, it is your kinds fault for what happened so do not try to tell me other wise. You and your pack wont make it through the night, Mutt.” He sneered as he moved over to Rex and grabbed his hair tightly.

“A werewolf named Rex. Well that is a name fitting for a Mutt like you. A dog’s name for a filthy mutt.” Axel sneered as he looked at the wolf in front of him.

Well, this was weird. Not particularly unusual, hostility was nothing new to him especially when it came from a vampire. He hasn’t met many in his life, but those he did weren’t very friendly at all. He could remember this one time his father killed one of them bloodsuckers, the vampire having threatened his son – Rex was unsure if it was paternal instincts that made Roy do it, as if he wasn’t his son but still the chosen heir Roy would have done the very same. But the attack came after Rex had foolishly provoked the vampire, unlike now – he’s never seen the leech before in his life.

“Don’t know what your deal is, pal, but I think you need to chill out for a second and take a second look at where your standing. This forest? It belongs to my pack. I’d think twice before acting irrationally here.” The wolf had a feeling more than just insults would come. “What’s your problem, anyway?”

Axel laughed as he looked at the wolf and his small threat that his pack owned this forest. “You and your kind think you own every forest on earth, I’m older than you so do not try anything mutt.” He told the other as he moved closer to him. 

“Oh and I know your pack is here, it smell of wet dog, but do not worry little mutt I have plans for you pack.” Axel grinned. “And my problem as you put it is with your kind.”
