Ethan glared at the other, fangs extending in his tightly closed mouth, both out of anger and because of the heavy smell of blood that was thick in the air. His gaze fell upon the young woman lying at their feet, his lips tugging in a deep frown as he watched her desperately reach out for him, silently begging him to save her. There was only one way to do so now, but Ethan refused to even consider it. No, the only option left for her was death.
He knelt down at her side, his hand brushing blood-stained blonde hairs from her face. “Shh,” he whispered softly, in an attempt to ease her fears. It was impossible at this point, but he wanted to at least try. “The pain will stop in a moment…I’m so sorry, you didn’t deserve this.” The woman began to whimper as Ethan’s hands went around her neck. With one quick flick of his wrists, he snapped her neck, the crack echoing in his ears and caused him to cringe at the sound. Her body went limp, eyes glazed with lifelessness, her face unfortunately frozen with fear. The vampire took a deep breath, sighing heavily as he moved to close her eyes and even whispered a silent prayer for her.
“Life is precious…It should be treasured, protected at any cost. What you did was ruthless and completely unnecessary. There is a way to take what we need to survive and let a human live. Being as old as you are,” Ethan pushed himself back to his feet and turned to the vampire, his expression not of anger anymore but sadness and regret – there was even a hint of a tear in his eye. “I shouldn’t have to tell you any of this.”
Axel straightened his jacket and watched Ethan with the woman, he was such a soft creature. It surprised him as he had thought the other to be more like him and not caring, though as he broke the woman’s neck he smirked and crossed his arms over his chest. “You have a soft spot for our food.” Axel laughed as Ethan spoke.
“Their life is what er feed on, and who wants to take a little when you can take all that you want. I am sick of taking on what is needed. And you will not stop me.” He hissed before laughing once more. “Being as old as I am has taught me more than you will know.”
“Oh and by the way, you could have saved her. You are now the reason she is dead, your blood would have healed her.” Axel pointed out as he wiped his mouth with his sleeve and smirked. “You werent her hero after all.”
