Axel sighed as he was dressed up in a silly costume that Hailey had picked for him, her bag on one arm and his one the other as she dragged him from house to house. “Come on….we have enough..” He whined as they reached the last house that was in complete darkness. “And look they arent even home.”Â
“Hi!!!” Hailey jumped off the couch, dropping her magazine to the floor, and skipped after Axel into the kitchen. “I made pancakes!!”
When Axel teased her about not knowing about the love thing, she laughed at the popping up in his house comment. It was true and probably meant light-heartedly, but she still hoped he didn’t actually mean it. It would be pretty painful for her to find out her brother-in-law didn’t actually like her.
“Oh…my God.” She covered her mouth when Axel said that about Brent. “He’s a drug dealer??? An assassin??? I should have known something was up. I mean, who has such a suspicious person in their life and doesn’t get suspicious about it???” She pretended to be really taken aback, tugging her hair for a moment, before bringing two mugs of tea to the table.
“There ya go. Now eat the thing I cooked.”
He laughed at her fake shock and he just smirked at her, he reached out and grabbed on of the mugs frowning as he could smell that she had the same as him. “Uhh…You might want to get a different tea.” He told her as he took her mug away from her.Â
“You get a different tea and I will eat the thing that you cooked.” He said trying to strike up a deal with her.Â
“Hi!!!” Hailey jumped off the couch, dropping her magazine to the floor, and skipped after Axel into the kitchen. “I made pancakes!!”
“Don’t pretend to be a meanie. You love me too much to not have breakfast with me,” It was pretty late for breakfast, actually. Even late for lunch. But Axel did just wake up, so this is what they were going to call it. Hailey boiled some water and used the teabags specified for Axel without a second thought: He probably just liked a certain flavour. She would try it with him and give him feedback. “What does Bren even do for a living, though?”
“I am not a meanie..And I do not know about the love thing just yet. You do seem to just pop up in my house.” He laughed as she stood there with her arms crossed. He smirked at her next question and grabbed the crusts from the loaf of bread they had finished and headed to the back door, only opening it a little as he threw the bread out for the birds as well as some bird feed. “If you do not know already I think he may kill me if I tell you.” Axel laughed as he sat down again.Â

“Well, now you do!” Hailey slapped his arm playfully before rushing to the cabinet. She grabbed some syrup and jam to set on the table before taking out some forks. “Brent didn’t agree to stay and eat with me so now it’s just you and me.”
He raised an eyebrow and watched. “Make me some tea and I’ll think about it.” He smirked. “Oh use the ones that have my name on it.” Axel told her quickly as he sat down, his tea bags actually had blood in them, it was special blend that Brent had made for him. “If Brent didnt have work he would have stayed.”Â

He jumped as he heard her voice and spun around. “Uh….Hi..?” Axel didn’t know she was here and Brent hadn’t said anything to him. “I dont normally eat in the morning…”Â
“I am pretty pissed about you being secretly engaged, but I’m also really happy about it, and you guys are beautiful. Can I be the brides– er, groomsmaid?”
“I think she could have handled it….she has got her head screwed on pretty good…”Â
“Clearly you haven’t had much experience with her. Still, she knows now. Hey, we finally have a witness.”
“…Yeah I guess so.” He sighed as he looked at Brent and Haliey.Â
“I thought about taking it one step at a time, going from roommate to significant other, to fiance seemed like a lot for Hailey to take in.”
“I am pretty pissed about you being secretly engaged, but I’m also really happy about it, and you guys are beautiful. Can I be the brides– er, groomsmaid?”
