If curses were a thing, Hailey may as well have been cursed to be tied to this place. One invasive night was enough to make the owner mad at her, and she hadn’t planned on ever coming back after finishing her assignment for class. But that just may not be up to her because somehow, somewhere on her way to a convenience store, she got assaulted and bitten. And having studied this for hell’s sake, she knew what a vampire should look and act like when they’re hungry.

But they were dead. They were all dead. Or so she thought.

If anyone knew what was going on, the man who owned the mansion was her best bet. So Hailey didn’t have much of a choice when she stood by his door, ringing the bell frantically, and holding a handful of tissue paper she found in her purse against her neck.

Axel had finally began to relax again after the night where Haliey decided to stay past the time she was allowed, he no longer paced the hallways and looked in every room to make sure that she didnt slip in once again. He sat in his library with a book and a glass of whiskey, not paying attention to the small noises around his house, it was old after all and like to make lots of noises.

Though when he heard the bell ringing for frantically he made his way down stairs a little faster than he wold normally toll he saw that it was Haliey at the door, he frowned and opened it staring at her. “I told you not to com-” He stopped mid sentence as he saw her neck and smelt the blood, he quickly turned away from her as his eyes went blank and his fangs started to come out. “..Wh…Why Are you heere?” He managed to ask after a few moments.

@shadowhunterhalfling:

“I know, I know. He gets all his walls up when I try to explain SpongeBob Squarepants to him. What a grump.” Hailey rolled her eyes, but the smile didn’t leave her as she began to hop after Axel. “Of course, I do! I need to Snap this. Hanging out with my new bro! I’m really good at captions!”

“Thats because that is a kids show with too much noise and when you talk about it you get too excited and it reminds him of the show.” HE pointed out with a smirk as she hopped after him. “You do not need to ‘snap’ this….What ever snapping it means.” He said with a sigh as he opened the door.

@shadowhunterhalfling:

“Uhm, I don’t think. I know.” She did say it ran in the family, which was a way of indirectly complimenting herself. That must have flown over Axel’s head, though, because he would have commented on it. Her eyes lit up as he continued to answer her questions. “That’s sooooooooo cuuuuuuuttee! Love at first sight!” Closing her eyes, Hailey squealed into her hands. Axel must think she’s possessed at this point.

He looked at her as she squealed and moved away from her in case she decided to hug him. “I guess so. It took awhile for him to feel the same you know what he is like with all his walls.” He laughed as he moved out of the kitchen and got his shoes on. “You ready to go? YOu still want to go out dont you?” He asked as he grabbed a jacket.

Hailey wasn’t sure if the owner’s warning about her return included next morning’s tour. Everyone was forbidden from coming at night, but did her intrusion mean he didn’t want her to return with her class in the morning either? He was nowhere to be seen in the morning, which gave Hailey the impression she could return with her class. And no prove she wasn’t insensitive and immune to guilt, Hailey brought an assorted chocolate box with a note that said “Sorry about last night!” which she didn’t show anyone. And asking around for where the owner of the house might be was off the table because no one was supposed to know a man owned and lived in this place.

So, during her looking-about, Hailey made her best guess on where the most obvious place to leave a present would be. A pair of her classmates were in the kitchen and stayed there for a while. After they left, Hailey checked the cupboards. Some actually had food in them. Why did the owner keep it this way if the presence of food only confirmed that someone lived here? Then again, tourists probably thought the tour guides liked to hide snacks for slow days.

After placing her chocolate box on a shelf, Hailey rushed out of the kitchen and took out her notepad again. She had to finish this paper.

He frowned as he saw the girl from last night back but this time with her class, he supposed that she was allowed back as long as she was with them, but if he caught her again he may have to scare her off to stop her from returning, something he didnt actually like doing.

Axel went back to bed as he did like to see the crowds come into the house, he used to be social til he became a vampire and now days just seeing the crowds arrive was all he got.

 As the sun went down teh vampire slowly woke, waiting for the last few people to leave before he headed down to the kitchen, taking a bloodbag out of the fridge before he saw the chocolate that had been left. He raised and eyebrow and put it in the fridge to stop it melting.

Hailey ‘aww’ed loudly – maybe too loudly – and pressed her palms together in front of her mouth. Her whole body tensed with excitement like she was being told the most exciting news of her life. “That’s so cute! Brent is, like, very handsome. It runs in the family.” She grinned sheepishly. “How long did it take for him to move in? When did you know you love each other???”

“I dont think you’re supposed to think your brother is handsome.” He pointed out as he finished his tea and washed out his cup before looking at her. “Though I wont deny that he is indeed very handsome. It took him about six months, I had to wear him down a little he had a lot of walls up….I knew I loved him from the first time I saw him…”

When he pulled her to her feet, Hailey let out a sharp sound between a gasp and a shriek. How he managed to haul her up so swiftly was beyond her, but so was the whole situation. She couldn’t stay here, not even if she wanted to – which, honestly, she no longer did. Any spark of curiosity had died when the man tackled her to the ground. Now, her only question was where her phone went.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m leaving,” she told him, but she didn’t look at his face. Hailey was scanning the floor for her phone.

He frowned and handed her, her phone as she looked around for it. “I dont want to catch you in here again.” Axel told her as he watched her, she had to know the rules everyone knew them, but here she was after dark in his house.

Once she took her phone he walked her to the front door, opening it for her. “I will call the cops next time.” He warned.

@shadowhunterhalfling:

Hailey paused for a moment, scratching her chin as though she actually had to think this through. “..hmm…you’re right. Vampires are people, too! Except aren’t they supposed to be…like…really pale?” It didn’t actually matter. Axel didn’t want Hailey to do his make up – obviously – and that was the end of it. Instead of arguing further, she rushed inside to get ready.

“Not all are plae, just the ones in movies and tv shows.” He laughed with a smirk as he got up and headed upstairs to get showered and changed to go out with her, he was going to make Brent owe him something for keeping his little sister entertained for the evening.

@shadowhunterhalfling:

“I’m not everyone. I’m Hailey!” She made a pouty face at his refusal, but it was half-hearted. She was curious, but she was also well aware that not all secrets were hers to know. “Aww, that’s cute! How did you guys meet, though? You never told me that story.”

“But being Hailey doesnt mean you get to know every secret everyone has.” He pointed out and sat down as he finished cleaning up after himself. “We met at a market place, I saw him from across the isle’s and I just had to go and talk to him.” He told her smiling, not going to tell her that Brent had been his other half in the past before she was born and that he had waited so many years to find Brent again.
