She chuckled once again, louder this time. “Oh, why thank
you I appreciate that.” The professor nodded, grinning before shaking her head
slightly, almost more like her head was bobbing. “Oh, well, I agree to a
degree. Some people go to college because they want to further their educations
or because they need a degree for the career that they dream of and want to
pursue. Others because they families are making them or because many jobs
nowadays do require that you hold a college degree of some sort. I don’t blame
or fault them. I feel for the students who are taking one of my classes, or any
that they have no interest in, simply to fulfill a general education core
requirement.” Reggie shook her head. “No, there’s only so much that phones and
technology can do.” She reached out, briefly placing her hand on Axel’s arm and
giving him a gentle smile. “Please, don’t apologize. You feel strongly about education
and being grateful for the opportunities available to one, and that is a
wonderful thing.”
“And I understand that…I just feel a lot of today’s youth do not relish the opportunity that they have. Not a lot of people had it years ago and you think they would realise how lucky they are.” He sighed as he looked at her. “They can do a lot, they let you talk to someone on the other side of the world, let you be friends with people you otherwise would not be able to know unless you lived there.” He looked at her hand and smiled back at her. “You are a wonderful teacher and I hope the rest of my class sees that and pays attention to you, you have a lot to teach us, and my ears are open to it all.” Axel told her as he smiled and lightly touched her arm giving it a small squeeze.
