“ … yes! How did you know? How long have you been watching me? Do you get a direct feed straight to your coffin? Is there like a little tv build in there?”
“Yeah, your potion. Do you still want it, even though it’s wracked with children’s blood? You love children’s blood, right?”
“Of course all vampires love childrens blood. At least we dont lure kids in with candy houses then fatten them up. I havent seen your house but I am sure you have big candy canes out the front of it.”
“ … yes! How did you know? How long have you been watching me? Do you get a direct feed straight to your coffin? Is there like a little tv build in there?”
“All witches crash on their first time, it was just a guess. If I sleep in a coffin you must have children tied up in your basement, getting ready to cook them for some potion.”
“No offense there, Axel, but you have no idea what I would put up with regarding an unnaturally, long life… Especially when one of the drawbacks -as you so eloquently put it- is being a monster.”
“Really do you want a long life? Would you like to be turned into a vampire? Because I can do that for you before you change me, I can give you a vial of my blood that would turn you if you died with it in your system. Then we would see how long you would last as what I am.”
“Excuse me, Axel!” Greta said as she ran to catch up with him getting winded in the process. She got in front of him raising a hand to stop him further. “Perhaps you were wrong? We made a deal, which is binding. You can’t back out of it now because you don’t like the things I say about you and your kind. I admit it was a bit … rude, but that’s not to say I won’t do as asked. I will complete your spell as I have already started it. I am honorable. Are you?”
He snarled as she stepped in front of him and raised a hand to stop him. “A bit rude? Greta I am a customer of yours and you have been very rude to me, what gives you the right to make assumptions of me because of what I am. Do I make assumptions of you being a witch and sacrificing children to do dark magic? No. I do not, because unlike you witch I have manners.”
“That’s an interesting word choice. Are you big on that then? Revenge? Is it what motivates you?” She found that intriguing, he hadn’t said justice or even vengeance. No, it was all very personal. She smiled as she gained a little more insight about him. It hadn’t just been about his culture or beliefs stripped away from him and his loved ones … He’d been personally wronged, hand gone back to revisit that pain, to dole it out to whom he saw fit.
“Interesting.” She repeated herself. Maybe he was a fool to agree so blindly or maybe he had a clue and really didn’t care about the cost. It didn’t matter to Greta, as long as the job was done and she got paid, the way he felt about it had no bearing on her. He’d just better keep those fangs behind those pretty lips of his at least until they became a non-issue. She lifted one hand to show him out of the office in the back of her shop. “Got about your evenings as you normally would. I’ll need about a month to prepare. I’m sure that’s nothing for you, all the time you had. If you have any questions in the meantime, here’s my card. Feel free to call on me.”
“Revenge motivated me many years ago but now I just wish to be mortal and to live a long life and then die as an old man. Not watch as more people I care about grow old and die.” He told her, his eyes watching her every movement, he knew that she could easily hurt him now if he was not quick enough and he was not going to give her the chance.
The vampire raised an eyebrow as she said she would need a month to prepare, he thought that she wouldnt need that long to do a spell, after all he had heard of a witch doing it in less time but the witch had been killed after said spell so he had not been able to ask, he took the card and smirked as he looked at it. “I shall call on if I require your talents.”
“Please,” Greta scoffs. “Well, if I’m throwing it away you’re welcomed to it. As for taking something from me … I also invite you to try it, you tiny man.”
“I will take something should you keep this up, and I will succeed at getting something off of you Greta.”
