Soulmates.

“It didn’t happen with my parents,” she said with a shrug. ‘At least not with each other,’ she thought in silence. She smiled as he aided her, going to tuck the painting and easel in a corner to dry so she could work on it later. “Besides, I’m sort of a black sheep. I just sort of… Never believed it.”

“Don’t you know that black get love more quickly than the norm? We tend to be ourselves so people like that more, we are more…honest..” HE smiled at her, trying to get her to not feel bad about being the odd one in her family. “And think about it, you have something your parents dont…your soulmate.”

She did her best to try and deny the sweets, but he insisted, and she couldn’t resist it when she saw he’d gotten licorice wands. She grinned and happily began to eat, swinging her feet a bit and hummed between bites. “Sounds like a deal, but I’m new to the whole magic world thing. Best I can do is maths and writing.”

“Thats okay, im not that great at it myself…so any help is good.” Axel laughed as he ate one of the licorice wands. “So are you muggle born?” He asked her, he didnt have a problem with it, he was just curious as he hadn’t met one before.  “You dont have to answer.” Axel mumbled as he realised it might be offensive.

“I just… Honestly wasn’t expecting it to ever happen..” She blushed and looked to the ground, then gestured about the place. “Anyways… This is my apartment, I guess. I could have better, but… I don’t like living up to parents’ expectations.” She shrugged a bit and started to clean up her brush and pallet.

Axel smiled and nodded. “Its nice, I like it….it shows that you love your work.” He said pointing to the paint that was on things, he moved to start helping her clean up. “I guess everyone sort of expects it….what with the count down and all.” He laughed.

“Nah, I sleep with these under my head most of the time. Helps with binding them to you,” she said with another yawn. She closed her eyes, and soon was out like a light. She slept for a good portion of the trip, until the trolley lady came by selling sweets and foods. She woke up and sat up, rummaging through her pockets to look at what she had. A couple sickles… Best save it. She shook her head, deciding she could live without candy.

Axel stared at the lolly trolly and smiled as he brought a mixture for both of them, not letting her say no as he gave her some of the food and sweets he brought. “Help me with homework to pay me back.” HE laughed as he ate a chocolate frog. He started to eat the other things that he had brought and smile at her.

She flailed and tried to hide the painting, only to trip and knock it over as she fell. “Ow..” She slowly sat up, looking flustered and embarrassed. “I don’t like people looking at my art,” she grumbled. “I mean, it’s my job, but I don’t think it’d very good…” She got up again, messing up her hair, and it stuck up with tan paint.

“Don’t hide it, I like it…” He told her moving over to her and helping her up and laughing at the paint in her hair. “You got some paint in your hair…And it is good, your painting I mean.” He blushed and smiled at her again. “I uhh…Sorry about earlier, I didn’t mean to spook you and make you drop your sketch book though I am kinda gald cause I got to see you agian.”

“Alright.” She smiled to him, putting the book away and leaning lightly against the window. Without realizing it, she took a deck of tarot cards from her bag and began to shuffle it as she closed her eyes and let her mind drift towards emptiness. They were from a simple store bought deck, a little big for her fingers, but she just felt comforted and calmed by their familiar size and weight.

She yawned and sighed softly, sinking to occupy most of her side of the car’s seat, laying down and tucking the cards under her head, despite how uncomfortable it looked.

He watched her with the cards for a moment before pulling out one of his spell books and reading it, when she lay down he raised an eyebrow. “That doesnt look comfy.” He said pointing at her and the cards. “You should roll up your robe instead it will be more comfy for you.  You will sleep better as well.” Axel told her with a smile before turning back to his book and making sure he was somewhat prepared for this.

All Tied Up

She quirked an eyebrow at his boasting. “What magic? No, I have none, just slaves. All the darkness in the closet, all the fear under the bed, the creatures that don’t lurk in the night, but are it. They do my bidding. Every shadow is mine, every dark patch in night and day.” She chuckled and shifted into a bit more of a comfortable position. “What is it you want of me, vampire?”

“Oh you must think me stupid dont you?” He asked with a grin as he looked at her and as she shifted he moved closer to her. “What I want is to no longer be this….this being who lives forever and takes the life force of others to life…I want to be human again, I was once and I long to be one again..but I don’t want my age to catch up to me like the last person who was cured of this.” He stated with a frown. “Do this for me and I will let you go.”

She squeaked in surprise, the bird thrashing a moment as it fell over before righting itself and looking quite confused, head turning to look at the new cage, and the other owl, who had woken in the flurry of motion.

“Thanks,” she said with a smile, reaching a finger through the cage to stroke her owl’s ruffled chest feathers until it nipped her gently. She then settled down for the journey, feeling through her bag until one of the books felt warm under her finger. She pulled it out and saw it the basic spells.

“I’m going to guess you used one of the spells from here? I haven’t read any of the books yet… It’s going to be a long journey… Mind if I read a bit, or nap? Sorry, I don’t really… Know what to say? I’m a little awkward, and we have some time..”

He smiled as he saw the bird and he put his fingers through the bars of the cage to settle his own bird as she did the same with hers. “Don’t worry Loki you will be let out once we get there.” He said softly to the bird before looking over at her.

“Oh that one no, my father taught me it after I had done the same thing that boy did to your bird, except I did it with the family dog.” He laughed. “Go a head, I will wake you when we get there if you want, from what I can tell we are a little while away still.” Axel explained with a smile.

Soulmates.

dark-carnival-librarian:

She took the book back and hugged it to herself, cheeks still a brilliant crimson. “So..” She looked down to her wrist, holding it out. “I guess we’re soulmates?” She smiled shyly up to him, surprised to have such a beautiful man before her. She was so quiet, she was expecting one of the nerdy kids that hung out in the library at lunch, or an equivalent. An unpopular, an outcast. But him? Surely not.

“I guess we are…I’m happy I got an artist for a souldmate..” He grinned as he pulled out his own sketch book and showed her the pieces of clothing he was working on. “I’m a tailor….and I make woman’s clothes.” He explained as he handed the book to her. “Take a look if you want.” He said sitting down on one of the plastic covered chairs. “You really got my eyes.”

That’s Just Batty

dark-carnival-librarian:

“Nnh…?” The young woman slowly woke at the sounds of a commotions, sitting up as she rubbed one eye tiredly. She was normally a heavy sleeper, but the sound of voices where they shouldn’t be was enough. She wore a nightgown of purple satin, the silky fabric clinging to her thin form and accentuating each curve, one spaghetti strap falling off her shoulder. Her short, pixie-cut hair was in fantastic bed head, but it was actually rather cute.

She looked over and let out a little scream of fear when she saw a man standing in her room, tangled up in the scarf that she didn’t recognize as the same one she’d bundled the little bat from the previous night in. She pulled her covers up to hide her breasts, her hand fumbling for the nightstand. Where was that pepper spray?!

At her scream he fell over and got even more tangled in the scarf as he tried to free himself. “I’M NOT GOING TO HURT YOU!” He cried out as he manages to get free from the scarf and use it to cover himself.

“I….Uhh…how did I get here?” He asked as he looked around for something else to cover himself with as he wasn’t sure if she wanted him to use the scarf for that. “Can I have a blanket, please? It is a little cold..” Axel asked as he sat ont he edge of the bed turning so she didnt see anything.
