I think a lot people actually forget that Axel is blind in his right eye.

This is a big blindspot. (no pun intended) But you could attack him from that side and he wouldnt see you coming. It can and does effect his depth perception. Hence how he thought he could jump across rooftops when he was young and fell breaking his leg.
