Anita scoffed at him, “And you think it was fair to keep me in the dark about how you felt?” She tilted her head, suddenly swaying under the weight of an oncoming migraine, “If I cared about what others thought about us being near each other do you think that I’d keep coming here with you? Being with you? I’m stubborn but I’m not sadistic, Axel.”
She sighed again and pushed a hand over her face, smearing the tears that moved over her now flushed pale skin. It was too much, she was scared. Maybe it was that old fear of being alone but she had thought that she’d finally found a chance at happiness, even if her defenses told her otherwise. The necromancer had fought against it for so long, her senses, both magical and physical had told her to leave, or at least it was what she had come to believe. But maybe it was only her heart, afraid of what it could allow in, the poor thing bruised and still broken a thousand times over still willing to throw itself back in to the woods again and hope for the best. Ever optimistic the frail thing was. But she looked at him, her gaze meeting his again, his face paler and sharper than usual as he had not fed in some time, but his good eye was still just as deep as ever. She remembered first looking at him, appreciating his beauty in the brokenness that he was and found a kindred spirit.
“You’re not right, Axel,” she shook her head just another slow tear formed in her eyes and she attempted to blink it away, “Not even close.” She reached for him, a moment deciding if she should stand on the tip of her toes, and lost to it- arching up and pulling on his shirt until she met him face to face. Her eyes flickered from his lips to his eyes and back again before closing her own and gifting him the softest, hesitant kiss- as if she was waiting for him to reject her. Anita was always waiting to be rejected. “Please stay, because….. Because I’m falling for you.”
“No I do not think it was fair to keep my feelings hidden as doing so has hurt both of us. I was trying to think of how it would effect you should I have said what I wanted at times.” He explained, he had never meant to hurt her, it was always something he tried to stay clear from and he knew that 90% of the time she had other issues that need to be dealt with over his feelings for her.
As she wiped away the tears on her face he wanted to be the one to do that for her, even though he had caused the tears he wanted to fix it anyway he could. As she said he wasnt right he was actually happy, he didnt want to be right, he wanted her to have the same feelings back for him and that she wanted him here, he was tired of being alone, sure he had a few humans that worked for him and would be his eyes and ears during the day but having another person love him and want him around was something he was always chasing.
As she reached for him he took her hand gently, giving her a soft smiled before she pulled him down his hands now cupping her face as she kissed him, he pressed his lips against hers and closed his eyes as he returned this kiss, his a little more than the soft kiss she had given him. “I will stay for you…I have already fallen for you many times as I waited for you to feel the same.” He whispered as he pressed his forehead against hers.
