He did remember him. The sheer joy was evident on Freyr’s face, for he smiled like he had not in days, although the god of prosperity was seemingly always cheerful. Decades, centuries passed and he met up with an old acquaintance- except…
A vampire. Axel was a vampire now, and that made him draw back form the embrace and look at the other in concern. Freyr understood that the process was painful, and he did not know what tragedies the other had gone through and felt remorse for his friend. A hand was placed on the other’s shoulder as he gulped slowly.
“You have not aged one bit either. Axel, how did this happen to you? On one hand I am happy to have met you again but- we always considered the vampires to be cursed beings. Is everything alright with you?”
He grinned and hugged him again as the other drew back from him, he was different, both of them were but that is what happened over many years of being apart from each other. He knew that Freyr was concerned about his condition, but seeing his old friend Axel hadnt even thought that him being a vampire would change anything between them.
“It happened not long after I Met you, you remember that festival that was held in your name every year?” He asked him as he looked at his friend. “I was lured by the most beautiful woman I had ever seen and the next thing I know I was…well a vampire…We are cursed, the pain over the years has not been easier but seeing you has made me very happy.”
