Add a Little Magic

Mina didn’t know she’d been born a witch. She’d dressed up as one for Halloween, as well as princesses, mermaids, superheroes, and whatever had come to mind. She was a normal girl, as far as she’d been concerned, though some funny things had been happening recently.

First thing was the Tarot deck she’d found. Every time she did a reading, the outcomes were so spot-on, people sometimes accused her of watching them or talking to someone else about their personal lives before storming off. Another was the time she managed to push back someone who was bullying her school friend- a full ten feet back. Not only was the distance quite impressive, but she was a good half a foot shorter than the rest of those in her class, and quite thin to boot.

She’d told her adopted dad, and all he’d said was that she was special. She didn’t know quite what that meant, and

Then came the letter. It was soon after her birthday, so she almost missed it because she was too busy playing with her new Rubix cube, trying to solve all the sides of it. It’d looked so easy… Then her father called her name and she immediately put it aside.

When he’d given her the letter and she read it through, she looked to him like it was a joke. He seemed just as confused as she, but he’d said that his best friend’s cousin had gone to the same school. At least they’d saved up for her to go to college.

After a few short days, she’d found herself on such a long train, holding a little plush of a tawny owl with gold eyes in both arms, wearing a uniform that was second- or third-hand, but fit her well enough, if a bit raggedy, her books in a bag over her shoulder. She was having trouble finding a place to sit, then she found a mostly unoccupied booth.

“A-Ah.. Excuse me? Is this seat occupied?” She was nervous, and a bit frazzled, her white hair a bit of a mess and her violet eyes wide with wonder and curiosity. She managed a smile at the other, though, despite her nervousness. Approaching people wasn’t her strong suit.

Axel had been born into a magical family and had been waiting for his letter to Hogwarts by the time he was six even though he had to wait for it. WHen he did get the letter he was beyond happy and had wanted to go off an buy his uniform and books straight away.

HIs parents had made him wait til a few days before he was set to travel to the school despite his pleas to go earlier. He had spent the first half of the day pouting till they had gotten to him getting a pet, he had chosen a black one that had green eyes like him.

As he sat ont eh train he had a book in his hands his thin framed glasses resting on his nose as he looked up at the voice he heard. “Oh…hey…uh..no…YOu can sit.” He stammered as he moved som eof his stuff so that she could sit down on the other chair. He gave her a small smile before running a hand through his messy blonde hair. “Axel.” He said as he held his hand out to her.
